Writing Status: Stealth Progress
After flying underneath the radar, we present to you our current progress of the script for Hackberry Hollow. We’ve done a ton of work since the last time we posted our writing progress. Even though it’s been a while since we’ve posted a writing report (um, November), since that time we’ve almost written the entire last half of the script for the entire comic.
We refine the outline first before writing the script treatment. Once the outline pass is done, usually Adam and myself do that part collaboratively. However things have been hectic so Adam has been writing the script treatment on his own. That’s why there’s a green slash through those chapters; I haven’t read those scripts and made edits yet.
You’ll note that 3 chapters have been deleted (or merged rather, with adjacent chapters). Also the latter chapters are shorter. This is probably because the latter chapters had more notes and so we misjudged the length of the chapters when we split them up in our outline.
Once the scripts are done we’ll combine one of the volumes. Volumes 3 and 4 are likely to be merged because they are short, bringing the comic down to 4 volumes.
The light is at the end of the tunnel! Once we have the script done we’ll go over it with a fine tooth comb to address previous notes, see what our test audience thinks, and then then production will begin! But not before throwing a huge party at the completion of the script because that’s going to be a huge deal for us.
By the way, the story rocks.
Writing a comic all out in advance really makes a big difference.
