Status Report: Short Chapters!
Yeah, the chapters we’ve been writing recently have been much shorter. In fact some were so short that we ended up merging them.
So that was nice. Having two less chapters to worry about in our schedule puts us closer to our goal. So I’ll go and update our quota calendar accordingly.
Well, I can’t think of anything else to bring up in this blog post, except that I’m really happy Volume 2 is over with. Not only were those chapters very long but that whole volume was emotionally draining for us as writers…well for me anyway. (Once youl read Volume 2 you’ll find out why. Holy crap.)

In the interest of interesting, what was your motivation for choosing that shade of green and that shade of blue?

You didn’t kill Kirk off did you?

Those particular shades of green and blue are among the few non-raw (i.e. not annoying) colors available in OpenOffice. At the bottom of the color list they have these colors named “Chart ##”, so I took the interface’s advice and used them for the chart.
For some reason OpenOffice doesn’t allow you to create custom colors without going through a few levels of menus and dialog boxes until you arrive at a pretty useless color picker interface. Luckily it gives you the option to use a second (also pretty useless) color picker interface.
Not jumping through all those hoops just to add a custom swatch was my motivation for using those colors. 🙂
And no, we didn’t kill off Captain Kirk. But even if we did I’m sure he’s perfectly fine in one of the many alternate universes that someone thought was necessary in the Star Trek universe.
