Production Schedule
Now that Adam is done with Animation Mentor we are going to hit the writing again hard. Our production schedule is to get the entire script for all 5 volumes done by the end of the year.
There. We said in on the blog so it’s official. Hold us accountable!
One of the things we’ve wanted to do as a studio is to give the story in all of our projects the attention it deserves. Saying “Story is King” means nothing if you don’t crown it and pay it taxes.
This includes writing the whole story out in advance. Of course that make sense for movies, but we also believe that it applies to episodic content. Have a story to tell, tell it, and don’t you dare run the series into the ground to milk a successful franchise for all it’s worth. (I’m not going to name any examples because I don’t want to put Naruto on the spot.)
Of course we need to get the story done in a timely manner, and we need to get other people to read it and provide feedback. So that’s what we are going to focus on, so much so that concept art is going to be taking a back seat for a while so that all our time that can be spent on taking our outline to script will spent on that. We will continue to do weekly blog posts though, at the very least to provide an accountability report on our progress.
Our reasoning for this is that people are probably more interested in…oh I don’t know…actually reading the comic rather than seeing out-of-context concept art. This is the quickest path to getting the project done and getting it done right. After the story is nailed I can focus all my time on the artwork and Adam can focus on some top secret stuff.
Our quota is 5 chapters every 2 weeks. This pace is totally doable because we’ve done it before. The only reason why we couldn’t keep it up was because Adam was finishing up a trade school and starting another school at the same time. With that behind us there will be much writing in the future.
