I decided to go ahead and take over the post for this week, mainly so that Glen can have the time he needs to be able to get character design done without going into temporary insanity over the endless tasks that pile up in his to-do lists.

Often when trying to find inspiration for a piece that an artist is working on they will draw from the experiences and things that they see around them in real life. The inspiration for this particular piece came from a sunset that I saw last week while I was on my way to the store and for some reason the image of that sunset was stuck firmly in my mind. After a few minutes of looking at it I thought that this would make a great color study for use in this weeks post.

Nice work Shane! I can see why this stuck in your mind, although I imagine nothing stands up to the actual event. Still I think you have done an amazing job here. Thanks. Nothing like that here in Idaho. Switch the lighthouse for a water tower, and replace the ocean with a wide expanse of farms and sagebrush framed by mountain ranges in the distance I guess. lol. 🙂
